Welcome to SSC!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our class page. It feels fantastic to be welcoming back familiar, smiling faces to our class and we also want to give a big, warm welcome to our new class members and parents. Our classroom hasn't changed too much but just to put your mind at rest we have included some pictures below. You will also spot a picture of Miss Leigh, Miss Holloway and Mr Dakin in our SSC playground, taken by Caiman on a wet and windy September morning. After such a long time apart, it feels great to be back together with lots to look forward to. You can find out more about this is our curriculum newsletter but some highlights include The Digestive System in Science and invasion games in P.E. We can't wait!
Miss Holloway, Mr Dakin and Miss Leigh
Dear SSC parents and children,
As most of you have stated a preference for home learning packs over online learning, this is how we will proceed for the remainder of the summer term. Many of you have already been in touch to have your folders replenished however should you need any further resources please get in touch by calling the school office or by using the SSC email: email@example.com and we will be happy to leave a new folder outside school for pickup. If your child is attending Firs for the summer term and you would like some resources to support their learning at home, please get in touch by the same contact details and we will be happy to send a folder home with them.
Keep safe and smiling,
Miss Holloway, Miss Leigh and Mr Dakin
It was so lovely to speak to your parents on the phone during the Easter holidays and to hear how you are getting on at home. This week, I hope to speak to each of you as I miss you lots and it is very strange in SSC without you! Mr Dakin and Miss Leigh are not half as much fun as you are!
I can see that lots of you have been logging on to Bugclub which is fantastic. Try to find 10-15 minutes each day to read with an adult, it will really help you improve! Parents, your child's login details can be found on the front of your home learning pack. Please let me know if you have any issues.
I have set up an online Matheltics account for each child. Please can you email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can email you back with the QR code/login details of I can give them to you over the phone this week.
From now on, I will be posting a weekly suggested list of activities, broken down into different subjects. Parents I would like to emphasise that these are suggestions and you do not have to complete them all nor do you have to stick to a timetable. Do what you feel is right for you and your child. If you have the resources, try to complete some activities on paper rather than on a screen, as our online platforms (Bug Club and Mathletics) rely heavily on screen time already.
Children, we know that lots of you would like to share the work you are doing and we would love to see it so please feel free to send photographs to the same email above. There is NO requirement to share any work, it is only if you'd like to.
This is a strange time for everyone but we hope that your time at home as a family becomes an opportunity to learn new skills such as baking/cooking or learning new games and creating lasting memories.
I look forward to welcoming you all at the gate or getting out of the taxi soon. I'm sure we will have lots of stories to tell.
Keep safe and smiling,
Miss Leigh and Mr DAkin
Distance (Home) Learning
All children have been provided with a pack of learning which covers a range of curriculum subjects. These have either been given to children or sent by post to their homes.
