Year 1 Mrs Taylor

The Summer term has finally arrived and sun has started to shine! We have an exciting term ahead of us Year 1, which we know you are going to enjoy. Please find below a copy of our curriculum overview for the Summer term which outlines the new topics and other areas of the curriculum which will be covered over the coming weeks. We will continue to recap areas which have been missed or taught through home learning during lockdown.

Also we will be adding a homework challenge onto the school website and Google classroom too. This will be an opportunity to create a project at home and present it to your class in school. Keep your eyes out for further information!

As always we are available to talk most days should you have any questions. alternatively if you contact the school office they will arrange for us to give you a call.

Thank you for your continued support.

05/07/2021 Isolation.

Good morning Year one!

Unfortunately we again find ourselves learning at home- understandably many of you, like us feel saddened by the news. We know despite this challenge you will give home learning your best and make us proud, like you always do!

Like our past isolations your adults will receive links for guiding reading zooms and pre recorded lessons. During this isolation we would like to see all children everyday and so in addition to these zooms and lessons we will also be inviting you to a daily well-being zoom at 9.20am which will consist of a well-being check in and phonics!

Resources to get through today will be uploaded here. A learning timetable and personalised links/ resources will be uploaded starting from tomorrow (6.7.21). All learning can be uploaded through google classroom. Small learning packs will be available to be picked up from our school office tomorrow. If you have any difficulty with google classroom or are unable to access internet please contact school for login details or guidance.

We can't wait to see your smiling faces tomorrow.

Stay safe and take care,

The Year one team.

Hello Year Ones smiley

Happy New Year!

We all hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a restful break.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to school, although this might be a little different than usual. We look forward to seeing all your faces, either online on in person.

From Monday (11.01.21) each week we will upload a timetable of activities that we expect you to complete. There will be a weekly class zoom to check in with how you’ve found the tasks set and a chance to ask any questions.

Stay Safe. Work Hard. Keep Smiling!

If you would like to contact your teacher please feel free to email school at any time and the email will be forwarded to them. Please note that we are all working in school throughout this time and will not always be able to respond straight away.

In addition, as a school we have invested in a number of online learning platforms across the curriculum to help keep our student's brains engaged. All children have access to Bug club, Mathletics and Times Tables Rock Stars.  If you do not have a login or experience any difficulties using these please email us for assistance.

Session 2- Music

Today we would like you to start learning some fantastic songs from our favourite films. We will practice these together when we are back at school!

Can you guess the song from the song lyrics?

I've been staring at the edge of the water
'Long as I can remember
Never really knowing why

I wish I could be the perfect daughter
But I come back to the water
No matter how hard I try

Every turn I take
Every trail I track
Every path I make
Every road leads back
To the place I know where I cannot go
Where I long to be

See the line where the sky meets the sea?
It calls me
And no one knows
How far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
If I go, there's just no telling how far I'll go

I know everybody on this island
Seems so happy on this island
Everything is by design
I know everybody on this island
Has a role on this island
So maybe I can roll with mine

I can lead with pride
I can make us strong
I'll be satisfied if I play along
But the voice inside sings a different song
What is wrong with me?

See the light as it shines on the sea?
It's blinding
But no one knows
How deep it goes

And it seems like it's calling out to me
So come find me
And let me know
What's beyond that line?
Will I cross that line?

And the line where the sky meets the sea
It calls me
And no one knows
How far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
How far I'll go

Bubble Closure Letter

Hello and welcome to all our year 1 children smiley

We are excited to welcome you all back to school. Your teachers have been busy planning lots of exciting new learning opportunities and topics for you to enjoy. During the first few weeks we will be focusing on your emotional wellbeing and exploring healthy minds to ensure you are happy at school. Once equipped with these skills we will embrace growth and encourage the oopses and wobbles that are necessary to challenge yourselves and grow your brains.

On this page will share some of the exciting things we have been learning about and you can see photographs of the hard work we produce. We hope you enjoy it!

Check out our twitter page @firsprimarysale and search #Year1KT

You will find plenty of online resources below to help your children consolidate their learning at home.

We have plenty more exciting challenges this term and I am sure that your children will be eager to share what they have done in class with you at home.

Please help us in school by remembering the following:

  • Monday- We will provide you with 2 reading books to share at home. If you want to do any further reading you can use your bug club login. At a later date home work will also be sent out on this day.
  • Friday- Your child should arrive at school wearing their PE kit. This includes: top, shorts and PE pumps. You must return all reading books, reading records and homework books.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
