Admissions

School Admissions (Reception to Year 6)

As a community primary school, we are maintained by the local authority. Therefore all school admissions are managed by Trafford Admissions team, including waiting lists for in-year admissions. Firs Primary School has no involvement in the allocation of places.

Please follow the link below to apply online and find out further details. You can also telephone Trafford School Admissions team on 0161 912 5007.

Admission to Small Specialist Classes

Our school has 2 Small Specialist Classes for children with Social Communication Difficulties and/or Autism.  Both classes have a maximum of 10 children in each.  S1 Cedar is for children from Reception to Year 2 and S2 Larch is for children from Year 3 to Year 6. Children require an Educational Health Care Plan to be admitted to our Small Specialist Class and are only admitted to our Small Specialist Class on the recommendation from the Local Authority.    The Local Authority are in charge of the admissions to these provisions and being a child at Firs Primary already does not give you a higher priority over a child from another school.  The decision for a place is based on the level of need throughout the Local Authority.

Nursery Admissions

We offer a wonderful Nursery provision within our School grounds for children aged 3 and 4 years old (prior to their start in Reception, the September after they turn 4). The Nursery is led by a qualified Teacher, delivering against the Early Years (EYFS) curriculum, supported by Teaching Assistants. The Nursery has its own dedicated outdoor provision which the children enjoy in all weathers. Our Nursery children are integrated in to many aspects of mainstream School life, and they make use of many of the facilities within the wider School environment.

We offer tours of the School on various dates throughout the year. Please see the dates listed in the section above and contact the School Office should you wish to book on and view our Nursery provision.

Admissions are determined by School rather than the local authority. We offer a choice of full or part time places, and children benefit from the 15 universal funded hours and/or extended 30 funded hours (subject to approved eligibility and a 30 hour code being provided). Parents/carers have the option to pay for an additional block of 15 hours for a full time place if they are not eligible for the 30 hour government funding.

Please see below for the relevant year's Admissions Policy and application form.
