Welcome to Y1 Cherry

#Y1Cherry

Hello Year 1 Cherry,

Welcome to our class page. Here you will find information about what we are learning and you will be able to see some of the fun activities that we will be doing in class. This year will be filled with such fantastic opportunities to 'grow our brains' whilst having fun and the children will get stuck into some great lessons.

Weekly Reminders

Please help us in school by remembering the following:

  • Reading AT LEAST 3x each week -bring books back on Thursdays so we can change them and children will be given new books on Fridays. There will be two reading books - one reading for pleasure book and one linked to your child's phonic level.
  • Monday and Friday- Your child should arrive at school wearing their PE kit. This includes: top, shorts and PE pumps.
  • You must return all reading books.

Here are some links to our good morning and good afternoon songs if your child loves to sing them at home as much as they do in class! The songs are great for giving the children a routine and keeps them engaged before moving onto lessons...

Seesaw

We believe it is extremely important to build and maintain strong relationships with our parents and carers. Therefore, Firs has invested in and application called Seesaw; allowing staff and parents to communicate with one another virtually.

Seesaw is great for:

  • Celebrating the children's successes both in school and out of school.
  • Sharing what the children have been learning in school and at home.
  • Communication between parents/carers and staff in school.
  • Providing the children with additional learning opportunities to complete at home.

If you have any questions about Seesaw , please don't hesitate to speak to a member of the team.
