Welcome to the Firs Primary School
The Firs is a Community Primary School catering for children aged 3 – 11. We have two classes per year group, a nursery and one Small Specialist class. We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds, which we utilise for sport, gardening and lots of outdoor learning!
Our children are happy, extremely well-behaved learners and we are invariably praised for this by visitors to the school. During our recent OFSTED inspection it was noted that, "Pupils enjoy school and have very positives attitudes towards learning”.
Our teaching staff are highly effective and dedicated. "Teaching is consistently good and sometimes outstanding" OFSTED 2013. We all encourage the children to achieve their personal potential and encourage development of their individual talents. Our school vision statement is ”INSPIRE, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE!" Children at the Firs make excellent academic progress in the time that they are with us and develop essential life skills. "Pupils individual needs are fully met to ensure they make good progress", OFSTED 2013.
We greatly value the support that we have from our parents and encourage communication between home and school, in order that we can work together in the best interest of our pupils. In December 2015, we were delighted to be re-accredited with the Leading Parent Partnership Award in recognition of the very effective links we have developed with parents and carers.
The Firs is a fantastic place for children to learn and develop into happy, successful young people. The best possible way for you to appreciate what it is like to be part of The Firs, is to come and see us in action! I would be happy to give you a tour of the school. Please contact the school office to make an appointment.
