Curriculum Overview
Here is an overview of what your child will be learning each half term:
End of Year Expectations
The following document is taken from the Early Years Framework and additional guidance Development Matters. All children will be taught these learning points however our curriculum is not limited to these points and will include much more.
Our Classroom
Which is your favourite part of our provision?
Our Reading Gallery
We love to read in Reception! Here are some of the class texts that we have explored so far. Which was your favourite?
Our Art Gallery
We love to explore and create using lots of different resources. Sometimes, our art is linked to a topic or book and sometimes art is one of the ways we express ourselves. We use paint, crayons, playdough, collage and natural materials to create our artwork. We focus on the process rather than the outcome; that way all of our work is unique, just like us!
We love having ownership of our very own artwork. We can choose to add artwork to our very own sketchbooks. This way, we can go back and review/ change/ complete artwork another time.
START WITH ART
We love starting our week off learning a new Art Skill. We then practice and consolidate this skill during COOL time throughout the week.
All About Phonics
Here a link to a video made by Miss Curbishley, which gives you ideas on how to help support your child with phonics at home. These activities are play based and that is how we believe children learn best.

I understand that phonics is very complicated and the pronunciation of sounds can be quite difficult to master. The follow video is an excellent tool to help adults and children say the sounds correctly, which is crucial for reading and writing.
I would also like draw your attention to Mini Writers Club on Instagram. They have lots of handy explanations (like the ones below) and activity ideas, so why not take a look.
Please contact a member of the team if you have any questions about phonics.
