Firs Primary School

Inspire, believe, achieve!

Welcome

Welcome to Firs Primary School

Firs Primary is a Community Primary School catering for children aged 3 – 11. We have three classes per year group (except for Reception and Year 1 which, for 23/24, currently have two classes each), a Nursery and two Small Specialist classes. We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds, which we utilise for sport, gardening, Forest School and lots of outdoor learning!

During our 2017 OFSTED inspection we were judged as "outstanding" in all areas and it was noted that "leaders are determined and uncompromising in their pursuit of a first-class education for all pupils."

Our children are happy, extremely well-behaved learners and we are invariably praised for this by visitors to the school. OFSTED commented that, "Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. They are enthusiastic, considerate and resilient."

Our teaching staff are highly effective and dedicated. "Teaching ensures that pupils of all abilities complete work that is challenging and stimulating. The curriculum is expertly planned and effectively develops learning across a wide range of subjects. It makes a strong contribution to pupils developing a broad and deep understanding of the world." OFSTED 2017.

Our school vision statement is ”INSPIRE, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE!" Therefore, we encourage the children to achieve their personal potential by developing a love of learning and a strong belief that we can all "grow our brains".  Children at Firs make excellent academic progress in the time that they are with us and develop essential life skills. "The personal development of pupils ensures that they are exceptionally well prepared for life after ‘the Firs’,"  OFSTED 2017.

We greatly value the support that we have from our parents and encourage communication between home and school, in order that we can work together in the best interest of our pupils. We have been accredited with the Leading Parent Partnership Award on two occasions, in recognition of the very effective links we have developed with parents and carers.

Firs Primary is a fantastic place for children to learn and develop into happy, successful young people. The best possible way for you to appreciate what it is like to be part of Firs, is to come and see us in action! I would be happy to give you a tour of the school. Please see the date of the next planned school tour on our "Contact details" page of this website and then contact the school office to make an appointment.
