#Year5Redwood
Welcome all to Year 5 - Autumn.
I know that starting a new school year in a new class with a new teacher can be daunting. Be assured that you are in good hands and I have many exciting, fun and challenging activities that will keep you engaged this term. Thank you to all those children who have introduced their parents/ guardians to me. Everyone feels better when they can put a face to a name. If I haven't managed to see you yet, I am on the playground every evening; come and say hello! Keep up to date with our class by following us on Twitter @firsprimarysale #Year5Redwood
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss Gover, Mrs Reynolds-Smith, Miss Abraham and Mrs Seymour.

Thursday – Children should arrive in school in full P.E. kits. Regular school uniform is not required on this day.

We expect children to read at home on a regular basis in year 5 and keep practising the rapid recall of their times tables up to 12x12. For the first half term each week, children will receive a piece of literacy home learning, a piece of maths home learning and fifteen spellings to learn. In the second half of the term, children will receive a home learning project to last the full half term as well as weekly spellings.
If there are changes to the weekly routine or there are any issues that arise, please let us know by contacting school either by phone or email - office@firs.trafford.sch.uk
Our Art Gallery
Art is a lesson which gives us the opportunity to express our creativity. Sometimes our art is linked to a topic or book and sometimes art is linked to festivals and celebrations in the calendar. Our units this year will be closely linked to drawing, printing and sculpting. We focus on the process rather than the outcome; that way all of our work is unique, just like us! We hope you enjoy the images of our work that will be shared on here and our twitter page throughout the year.
As a school, we have been pushing a focus on reading for pleasure. It is very important for year 5 children to read regularly and read texts appropriate for them. In class we have our own bookcase and take part in a weekly reading for pleasure session where the children can choose to read in their own way! Children are also encouraged to share books they have been enjoying on our Recommendation Wall.
Methods In Maths
We understand that the mathematical methods taught in school may be different from what adults at home know and use. Use this link to find videos that explain the methods taught in school for each operation.
