Welcome to Y4 Poplar
#Y4Poplar
Welcome to Year 4 Poplar's class page. This is where you will see all of the fun and exciting things we are participating in this year.
Your class teacher is Mr Blake. We will also supported by Miss Lang and Mrs Thomson throughout the week.
Please find below the curriculum newsletters for this half term, where you can discover all of our exciting learning opportunities and how we plan to use high quality texts to enhance them.
We will keep this class page and Twitter updated with key information.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mr Blake
Weekly Reminders
P.E. will be on Thursdays and Wednesdays so we ask that children come to school wearing their PE kits on those days.
We ask that children read a minimum of 3 times a week and log this on the Seesaw (more information about Seesaw will follow in the next couple of weeks).
English homework and spellings will be given out on Fridays in BOOKS and needs to be returned on the following Wednesday. Spelling tests will also be on Wednesday mornings. Maths homework will be on MyMaths and will be set on a Friday and will also need to be completed by Wednesday. Please get in contact with us if you have any problems regarding home learning.
If there are changes to the weekly routine or there are any issues that arise, please let us know by contacting school either by phone or email: office@firs.trafford.sch.uk

Reading for Pleasure
Reading for Pleasure plays a huge part in our school and Year 4 is no exception! We love reading and sharing our thoughts on what we have read. We will read out loud, with a partner or on our own.

The Parent leaflet below details information for parents and carers about the end of year expectations for the children in our school.

Methods In Maths
We understand that the mathematical methods taught in school may be different from what adults at home know and use. Use this link to find videos that explain the methods taught in school for each operation.
At the end of Year 4, children will sit a national times tables test. It is therefore extremely important that times tables are learnt and further consolidated over the course of the year. TT Rockstars is a great resource for this (link above - all children have log in details in their reading records) Children will be tested DAILY.
